Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss advance practice provider (APP) integration & utilization in urologic practice to optimize access to care.
  2. Define advanced practice provider (APP) scope of practice, review national APP scope of practice goals, and state adoption of those goals.
  3. Recognize and analyze opportunities to keep their practice a physician owned independent entity.
  4. Evaluate the benefits, drawbacks, and potential risks of outsourcing coding and revenue cycle management services, and make informed decisions regarding the suitability of outsourcing for their urology practice.
  5. Recognize the importance of creating a culture of compliance in their practice and list the fundamentals of effective compliance plans.
  6. Identify ideas and strategies to mitigate the burden of prior authorizations.
  7. Identify how changes in the 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule may impact their practices.

AUA ACCREDITATION INFORMATION

ACCREDITATION: 

The American Urological Association (AUA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CREDIT DESIGNATION: 

The American Urological Association designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

OTHER LEARNERS: 

The AUA is not accredited to offer credit to participants who are not MDs or DOs. However, the AUA will issue documentation of participation that states that the activity was certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.

EVIDENCE BASED CONTENT: 

It is the policy of the AUA to ensure that the content contained in this CME activity is valid, fair, balanced, scientifically rigorous, and free of commercial bias.

AUA DISCLOSURE POLICY:

The AUA COI Review Work Group, working with Office of Education staff, will document the mechanism(s) for management and mitigation of the conflict of interest and final approval of the activity will be documented prior to implementation. Any of the mechanisms below can/will be used to mitigate conflict of interest:

  • Peer review for valid, evidence-based content by the AUA COI Review Work Group.
  • Attestation that clinical recommendations are evidence-based and free of commercial bias.
  • Introduction of a debate format (point-counterpoint)
  • Inclusion of moderated panel discussion with unbiased moderator
  • Publication of a parallel or rebuttal article for an article that is felt to be biased
  • Divestiture of the relationship by faculty
  • Recusal from controlling relevant aspects of planning
  • Selection of alternative faculty for specific topic

Cancellation Policy

AUA Education & Research reserves the right to cancel any portion of this activity if a minimum enrollment is not reached before June 9, 2023. If AUA Education & Research cancels any portion of this activity, notification will be sent by June 16, 2023.

Live Courses: An administrative fee of 15% is assessed if registration is cancelled up to six weeks prior to the course. If registration is cancelled four to six weeks from the course, the cancellation fee is 50% of the registration fee paid. No registration fees will be refunded less than four weeks prior to the course.

Webcast: Cancellations must be made no later than one week prior to the live course. Subscription fees will not be refunded after the cancellation period. Purchases after the live course date are not eligible for a refund.

Registration Transfer: Customers switching from an option of lesser value to a higher value will be required to pay the difference in cost between the two options. Switching to an option of lesser value from a higher value must be made no later than to six weeks prior to the course and will be subject to an administrative fee of 15% of the cost of the course from which they are transferring. Transfer of registration from a higher value option to an option of lesser value past six weeks prior to the course will not receive a refund.
