Day One (Thursday, July 14): PRACTICE MANAGEMENT

Session I: Professional Development & Leadership

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify and apply effective management strategies to sustain practice success.
  2. Explore the most common methods of communication, why effective communication skills are so important in healthcare, and how to apply these skills for practice success.   

Session II: Best Practices in Operations

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Effectively interpret and utilize data to monitor practice performance and identify areas for improvement.
  2. Identify front-end, point of service, and back-end practices that achieve optimal results and envision a balanced scorecard approach for evaluating practice performance across various domains.
  3. Utilize and apply benchmarking, revenue cycle key performance indicators and best practices for effective denials management to achieve optimal practice performance.
  4. Acquire several ideas, tips and tricks they can utilize in their practice to improve staff engagement and retention.
  5. Obtain the basic knowledge to advertise, interview, hire, and properly on-board and support (education, credentialing, etc.) a Medical Assistant.
  6. Comprehend the legal basics of medical assisting education, certification, and scope of practice.
  7. Recognize and apply best methods to hire and onboard an APP into urology practice.

Day Two (Friday, July 15): CODING & REIMBURSEMENT

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Determine coding for the appropriate level of evaluation and management.
  2. Interpret and apply billing and coding for proper reimbursement.
  3. Formulate practical applications of the coding information to utilize in everyday practice.
  4. Identify effective strategies to mitigate audit risk and how to respond effectively to additional documentation requests.
  5. Comprehend the fundamental principles of governmental regulations like Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statue and Surprise Billing.
  6. List the changes to Medicare Program for 2022.
  7. Code complex urological issues and multiple procedures.
  8. Describe National Correct Coding Initiatives (NCCI) for bundling and unbundling in the practice of urology.
  9. Define the relationship between encounter documentation and code selection.

AUA ACCREDITATION INFORMATION

ACCREDITATION: 

The American Urological Association (AUA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CREDIT DESIGNATION: 

The American Urological Association designates this live activity for a maximum of 16.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

OTHER LEARNERS: 

The AUA is not accredited to offer credit to participants who are not MDs or DOs. However, the AUA will issue documentation of participation that states that the activity was certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.

EVIDENCE BASED CONTENT: 

It is the policy of the AUA to ensure that the content contained in this CME activity is valid, fair, balanced, scientifically rigorous, and free of commercial bias.

Cancellation Policy

AUA Education & Research reserves the right to cancel any portion of this activity if a minimum enrollment is not reached before June 21, 2022. If AUA Education & Research cancels any portion of this activity, notification will be sent by June 28, 2022.

Live Courses: An administrative fee of 15% is assessed if registration is cancelled up to six weeks prior to the course. If registration is cancelled four to six weeks from the course, the cancellation fee is 50% of the registration fee paid. No registration fees will be refunded less than four weeks prior to the course.

Registration Transfer: Customers switching from an option of lesser value to a higher value will be required to pay the difference in cost between the two options. Switching to an option of lesser value from a higher value must be made no later than to six weeks prior to the course and will be subject to an administrative fee of 15% of the cost of the course from which they are transferring. Transfer of registration from a higher value option to an option of lesser value past six weeks prior to the course will not receive a refund.
