Practical Uroradiology: The Office Based Interpretation of Urologic Radiographic Studies Webcast (2017)

Member only benefit! Course is designed with the busy clinician and mid-level providers in mind as a review and update on recent advances in urologic imaging including: CT, MRI, Renal scan, PET scan for gurlogical malignancy, and prostate imaging. Interpretation of normal contrasted with abnormal MRI and CT will be the foundation for discussing conditions commonly seen and treated by the urologist reviewing films in the office. Will specifically address common questions about medical renal disease, oral diabetic medications and the use of CT and MRI contrast agents in the diagnosis and treatment of contrast reactions; as well as indications and interpretation of prostate imaging in the detection and staging of prostate cancer, and radiation safety.

Learning Objectives

After attending this course, participants will be able to:

  • Cite basic interpretation of normal CT and MRI of the urinary system and recognize GU abnormalities including: Adrenal gland: Carcinoma, Adenoma, Pheochromyctoma, Metastasis and myelolipoma; Kidney: Solid Masses: carcinoma, sarcoma, oncocytoma, AML, ductal carcinoma, metastasis; Infiltrating Masses: Lymphoma, Urothelial carcinoma; Infectious Masses: TB, XGP, Pyelonephritis Acute, abscess; and Bosniac Classification of Renal Cysts: I, II, III, IV.
  • Interpret lasix renal scan in adult urological disease processes and the appropriate use of PET scan in genitourinary malignancy.
  • Describe the medical implication of renal insufficiency and the use of contrast agents.
  • State the management of contrast reactions, sensitivity and allergies and comprehend the use of oral medication for the treatment of NIDDM and management recommendations for these medications when using contrast enhanced imagining.
  • Trace the use of MRI in prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment and cite basics of radiation safety.
