Ronney Abaza, MD
Dr. Ronney Abaza is currently Director of Robotic Surgery at OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital and previously Co-Director of Robotic Surgery at the Ohio State University Medical Center. His practice and academic interests are dedicated solely to robotic surgery. Dr. Abaza has performed over 5,000 robotic operations since 2006 for conditions of the prostate, kidneys, ureters, adrenal glands, and bladder. He has led the development of multidisciplinary robotic surgery programs at three institutions. He has been director of a robotic urologic surgery fellowship program since 2010.
Dr. Abaza is an innovator in robotic surgery as the first in the world to perform robotic surgery for adrenocortical carcinoma, kidney cancer with IVC thrombus, partial nephrectomy with renal vein thrombus, ureteroileal anastomosis revisions after cystectomy, and renal autotransplantation. He has presented his work at national and international meetings, including more than 100 presentations on robotic surgery in the past five years. He has won numerous awards for his research and has been chosen for "Best Doctors in America" by Best Doctors, Inc through peer selection every year since 2011.
Dr. Abaza frequently serves as faculty for educational courses both in the U.S. and internationally and as a panelist, moderator or course director for programs at the annual meetings of various national and international medical societies, including the American College of Surgeons and American Urological Association. He has performed live robotic surgical procedures for many major conferences, including the American Urological Association Annual Meeting, the World Congress of Endourology, the European Robotic Urology Symposium of the European Association of Urology, and the International Robotic Urology Symposium among others. He is editor of a textbook published by Springer that is the only textbook dedicated to robotic kidney surgery and has authored more than 120 publications on robotic surgery and urologic cancers.
