This is a hands-on, intensive course in PCNL. It is perfect for the practicing Urologist who wants to gain comfort with performing percutaneous stone removal, obtaining his/her own percutaneous access using both fluoroscopy and ultrasound, and utilizing current instrumentation including flexible ureteroscopy. The course will include didactic lectures, multiple different simulators, and live patient experience with ultrasound imaging.

Learning Objectives

After attending this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Obtain percutaneous access to the kidney using both fluoroscopy and sonography.
  2. Review instrumentation integral to optimizing PCNL success (including tract dilation, graspers, baskets, flexible nephroscopy).
  3. Demonstrate the optimal methods for post-operative drainage and management of the percutaneous tract.
  4. Recognize and manage complications of PCNL.
  5. Perform and review ultrasound imaging.
  6. Apply knowledge gained in this course to develop a practice which is comfortable in offering PCNL to its patients as an integral surgical procedure in the treatment of stone disease.
  7. Gain familiarity with flexible ureteroscopy and instrumentation, and learn how to utilize it in combination with PCNL to enhance access and stone treatment success.

What to Know Before You Go

Course Syllabus:

You will receive a complimentary printed syllabus at Registration. Full color handouts will also be made available on the AUAUniversity by Monday, September 30, 2019. If you would like to view the slides on your mobile device and/or laptop in the general session, be sure to bring a smartphone and/or laptop with a charger. *It is recommended that all course handouts be downloaded before entering the General Session.

  4. Select "Take Course". Once you complete the Knowledge Assessment, you may access the course handouts.

 From this page you will be able to access the pre-course knowledge assessment, course handouts, post-course follow-up assessment, evaluation, claim credit and print the course certificate. Please complete the pre-course knowledge assessment PRIOR to attending the live course.   


Registration:

Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning in the Smith Institute for Urology Centre Street Hallway. All attendees must check-in at registration to receive their name badge and course syllabus.  The didactic portion of the course will begin promptly at 7:30 a.m


Meals:

A continental breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks will be provided on Saturday. A breakfast and coffee break will be provided on Sunday at the course location.


Parking:

Complimentary parking is available at the course location across the street from the Center for Advanced Medicine- At the first light past Marcus Avenue, from Lakeville Road make a left at the second entrance marked "Entry 2" of the Center for Advanced Medicine. The Parking Lot on you left hand side is available to you throughout the course.


Dress:

Attire is business casual for the meeting. Temperatures in meeting rooms can sometimes be cool, so we advise that you bring a jacket or sweater with you to all meeting functions.

Travel

The AUA recommends that you register for the course BEFORE making travel arrangements. Once the meeting capacity is reached, which may be prior to the early-bird date, the AUA is unable to guarantee a spot in the course.

    Cancellation Policy


    An administration fee of 15% is assessed if registration is cancelled up to six weeks prior to the course. If registration is cancelled four to six weeks from the course, the cancellation fee of 50% of the registration fee will be paid. No registration fees will be refunded less than four weeks prior to the course.

    AUA Education & Research reserves the right to cancel this course if a minimum enrollment is not reached before August 30, 2019. If AUA Education & Research cancels this course, registration fees will be refunded in full and notification will be sent by September 6, 2019.
