Directed by Ralph V. Clayman, MD and Jaime Landman, MD, this newly enhanced course will feature a combination of didactic lectures, surgical video cases, panel discussions, Q&A sessions, an interactive review using audience response and hands-on surgical skill stations that allow each participant to perform percutaneous stone removal from start to finish on human cadavers for more accurate training. Other features of the course:

  • Updated PCNL Coding presentation for 2020
  • 1:4 faculty to attendee ratio for optimum learning experience
  • Additional lectures that will  also improve your ureteroscopic skills and enable you to perform the complete metabolic evaluation of your stone-forming patients
  • Combined experience of the faculty represents well over 100 years of PCNL experience- more than any other course

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Obtain percutaneous access to the kidney using fluoroscopy and/or ultrasound alone or in combination with ureteroscopic guidance.
  2. Review instrumentation integral to optimizing PCNL success (including tract dilation, graspers, baskets, and flexible nephroscopes).
  3. Perform prone flexible cystoscopy and flexible ureteroscopy.
  4. Demonstrate methods for post-operative sealing or drainage of the percutaneous tract.
  5. Utilize flexible ureteroscopy and instrumentation in combination with antegrade nephroscopy to enhance stone treatment success.
  6. Proper, safe deployment of a ureteral access sheath during flexible ureteroscopy, including sheaths up to 16F.
  7. Perform and review ultrasound imaging.
  8. Recognize and manage complications of PCNL.
  9. Focus on the latest in laser fragmentation and laser dusting techniques.
  10. Master the medical management of the urolithiasis patient, including metabolic evaluation and effective pharmaceutical/diet therapy.

Cancellation Policy


An administration fee of 15% is assessed if registration is cancelled up to six weeks prior to the course. If registration is cancelled four to six weeks from the course, the cancellation fee of 50% of the registration fee will be paid. No registration fees will be refunded less than four weeks prior to the course.

AUA Education & Research reserves the right to cancel this course if a minimum enrollment is not reached before January 17, 2020. If AUA Education & Research cancels this course, registration fees will be refunded in full and notification will be sent by January 22, 2020.
