Manuscript Reviewers

  1. The review of the manuscript will be graded on a scale of "1" to "5" with "1" being the best possible grade.
    • The editor of The Journal of Urology® will assess the responses provided by the manuscript reviewer and section editors and approve or disapprove the request for credit.
    • Only reviews graded "1," "2," or "3" will be eligible for credit. 
  2. The reviewer of the manuscript must indicate in Editorial Manager that they wish to claim credit and provide the following:
    • A brief description of the knowledge, competence or performance improvements gained through the review of the manuscript.
    • A valid AUA ID to have credits added to your AUA transcript.  (If you do not have an AUA ID, please go to www.auanet.org/myaua to request a new account.)

Editors

  1. Review the feedback provided by manuscript reviewers and score the completed review. 
  2. Complete the request for CME in Editorial Manager and provide the following:
    • A brief description of the knowledge, competence or performance improvements gained through the review of the manuscript.
    • A valid AUA ID to have credits added to your AUA transcript.  (If you do not have an AUA ID, please go to www.auanet.org/myaua to request a new account.)

Note: Participants who complete all requirements will receive 3.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM for each manuscript review.  Credits will automatically be added to your AUA transcript on a quarterly basis.

The American Urological Association (AUA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation

The American Urological Association designates this manuscript review activity for a maximum of 3.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Other Learners

The AUA is not accredited to offer credit to participants who are not MDs or DOs. However, the AUA will issue documentation of participation that states that the activity was certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.

AUA Disclosure Policy

The AUA COI Review Work Group, working with Office of Education staff, will document the mechanism(s) for management and mitigation of the conflict of interest and final approval of the activity will be documented prior to implementation. Any of the mechanisms below can/will be used to mitigate conflict of interest:

  • Peer review for valid, evidence-based content by the AUA COI Review Work Group.
  • Limit content to evidence with no recommendations
  • Introduction of a debate format with an unbiased moderator (point-counterpoint)
  • Inclusion of moderated panel discussion
  • Publication of a parallel or rebuttal article for an article that is felt to be biased
  • Limit equipment representatives to providing logistics and operation support only in procedural demonstrations
  • Divestiture of the relationship by faculty
  • Selection of alternative faculty for specific topic
